![]() 95W Power Supply For 2011 Power Mac Book ProIf it’s supposed to be a 1.2 volt supply. So here’s the first question, is that supply really supposed to be 1.2 volts? I don’t know for sure but that’s what makes sense to me.Next, is the 1.2 volt supply regulated on the power board or is that regulated on the logic board? In other words, would replacing the power supply be a worthwhile test? But here’s the interesting part: The voltage INCREASES to 1.2 volts and becomes stable if I give the computer consistent processing to do. That’s got to be way out of spec. But it varies - a lot.The supply varies from 1.2 volts to as low as 0.87 volts. I’m guessing that this is supposed to be 1.2 volts. I notice that the voltage sensor shows two voltages, 12 volts for the MXM graphics module which looks good and stable right around 12 volts. The other voltage shown is the CPU supply. Word for mac not showing margins topThat being the case, I’m going to keep the computer playing chess in the background while I work on my taxes as I monitor the voltage and see if this prevents freezes until I can replace the power supply, or whatever. The voltage immediately stabilized at 1.2 volts and looked good! I expected it to drop!Who knows what’s going on with this switching power supply? The increased load may actually trick it into proper regulation.
